Mitch and Laura were both raised in Howells, NE by small-town families with small-town values. They were high school sweethearts who both attended college in Lincoln, NE, got married in beautiful Jamaica, and since then have been blessed with 4 kids and a dog. Mitch attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, where he earned a degree in Criminal Justice. He then went on to serve with the Nebraska State Patrol for over 12 years. He had kept up with the flooring business throughout the years, doing jobs here and there when he could find the time, before deciding to open Blum's Quality Flooring full time. Laura attended Southeast Community College in Lincoln where she earned a degree in Radiologic Technology. She worked at the Genoa Community Hospital as an X-Ray Tech, CT Tech and Lab Tech for over 11 years, and then decided to become a stay at home mom for a year before becoming Co-Owner of Blum's Quality Flooring.

Mitch grew up in a family that was well versed in flooring and installation. His parents both work at Baumert Furniture and Flooring in Howells, which is owned by his grandpa, Jim Baumert. Baumert's opened their doors in 1955, and are still serving their community. They are a well known and trusted business throughout the area. Growing up, Mitch spent much of his spare time and many summers working for his grandpa, installing tile and carpet. He has always had a passion for flooring and making homes look more beautiful than they did before.

Mitch and Laura currently reside in Columbus, where they stay plenty busy raising their four kids, Shelly-9, Silas -6, Elijah -4, and Emmi -2. In what little spare time they do have, they enjoy doing various outdoor activities, traveling, shopping, and just spending time together.
